November Love
The sea comes spinning up the beach.
Pigeon-grey but white-mouthed,
it takes over this November day more
than anything ever can save the sane gold
sun, but that's not here just now.
What is here are two lovers, cold – swiped,
but full of each other. Hands knit tight
on life, their one big idea
looms plain and sky-high –
to outlive, outlove everything.
The bragging sea, the not-there sun,
everything – except each other.

Iubire de noiembrie
Marea se rostogoleşte pe plajă,
Gri ca porumbeii dar cu gura albă
şi pune stăpânire pe astă zi de noiembrie
mai bine decât orice altceva, în afară de-nţeleptul soare
auriu, care nu-i aici acum.
Însă aici acum sunt doi iubiţi, bătuţi de frig,
dar împliniţi. Cu mâinile-ncleştate strâns
în jurul vieţii, cu-a lor mare idee
ce se iveşte simplu şi tinde spre ceruri –
de a supravieţui şi a iubi peste măsură totul.
Marea lăudăroasă, soarele ce nu-i,
totul – mai puţin unul pe celălalt.
